Kolbe had tremendous courage and faith in the midst of great suffering–where did it come from? I believe it came from God, through his faith. Translating it to today, as we live into the Covid 19 pandemic, I seek to stay rooted in generosity and encourage others who may be fearful or anxious.March 15, 2020 at 12:34 am #3126
His faith in God, and his relationship with the holy Virgin Mary seemed to strengthen him. He gave his life for another, just as Jesus did for us. I can imagine that prayer was a source of his courage and clarity, his capacity for compassion and his faith in what is good.
In St Kolbe’s keeping the faith, he encouraged others to keep faith in God and in good triumphing over evil. This touched many persons lives who carried this experience and witness into their lives after the war.March 15, 2020 at 12:29 am #3124
I was touched by his steadfast faith in dire circumstances as he gave his life in service day by day, and finally in exchange for another man. Quoting Doctor Joseph Stemler, another prisoner, “He helped me to strengthen my belief in the final victory of good.” Kolbe’s faith inspires me in my faith. Thank you for sharing his story.
